How PTO Funds are Put to Use
All monies the PTO raises go directly to fund various initiatives and enrichment programming for the Ashland K-8 public schools. In fact, here is a peek at what we have funded over the last couple of years. We have…
- Donated over $50,000 in funding to the K-8 school libraries.
- Given an endowment of $30,000 to fund materials and equipment for new MCAS based science curriculum.
- Spent over $60,000 (we commit over $30,000 each and every year) in enrichment programming to enhance the schools’ curriculum, for presenters such as NASA, Shakespeare theater groups, the Museum of Science and Discovery Museum outreach programs, Native American and Egyptian artifact exhibits, anti-bully and “life choice” programs, Internet Safety, and various authors, illustrators, musicians, dancers, and historical theater presentations.
- Funded over $20,000 in teacher’s requests, and “wish list” donations.
- Provided the community with family oriented events and informational presentations such as The Harlem Wizards, Ayla Brown, The Epic Brass Quintet, The Joe Sallins Duo, and the “Is Your Child Safe?” Internet Safety program.
- Funded a “Year of Technology” initiative allocating expenses for computer lab teaching aids, and classroom technology.
- Provided a “Night Out” for the parent community while raising funds through a Mardi Gras, Silent Auction, and Dinner Theater Gala.
Consider attending the next PTO event, participating in our fundraisers, or volunteering for a PTO program in one of Ashland's schools. Our mission is to promote an active interest in the enhancement of our school district, and we can only achieve this with the help of our community.
