Featuring some of the top basketball talent in the world, the Harlem Wizards' exciting brand of "Trick Hoopz and Alley Oops" is so engaging that after five decades they are still packing gymnasiums all across the globe with fans eager to laugh and be amazed.
The tradition and the glue of the Harlem Wizards' special experience is their bond with the fans. The Harlem Wizards' mission is to create a joyous, awe-inspiring basketball experience for all. While theatrics, tricks, and alley-oops are part of the show, every game is filled with surprises. Be prepared to see teachers, administrators, town personnel, Varsity High School basketball players, and quite possibly, your neighbors challenge the Wizards to a night of fun and excitement.
Wizards Fun Facts
• Harlem Wizards featured as themselves in the Showtime movie "For Heaven's Sake" with Ray Bolger, the beloved scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz.
• Wizards play on national television in Poland and a reported 5 million watch as The Wizards play Zhalgiris Kaunas of Lithuania. The Lithuanian team, which has won the World Cup in Europe and produced NBA players Arvydis Sarbonis and Sharunus Marchilanous, beat The Wizards by 1 point... the 1st Wizard defeat in 10 years.
• Wizards return to Eastern Europe in 2004 and play two games in two nights in Budapest and on the 2nd night they win a competitive game at the Sports Festival against National Team and Pro League Stars.
• NY Giant football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor plays 7 games with The Wizards. Lawrence then gave an interview to Brent Mussberger, which aired on his CBS national sports show.
• Wizards tour Attica Prison and play the prisoners team. The Wizards beat the inmates and were treated to a standing ovation by the inmate population. Cyril Batiste, a center, led the Wizards and former high draft pick in the NBA.
• 15-year-old Kobe Bryant and his dad, former NBA player Joe 'Jelly Bean' Bryant, face The Wizards at a summer camp in Pennsylvania.
• The Wizards performed for their biggest crowd of 18,000 in Tel-Aviv for Israel’s 30th Anniversary Celebration.
• The Harlem Wizards have played over 5,000 games both in the United States and abroad.
• “Tojo” Henderson is in his sixth decade as a Wizard.
• The Wizards have a unique basketball roster that includes 17 players aged 23 to 50 “something”.
