Joe Sallins Duo and Ice Cream Social
January 26, 2007, 7 pm at the Ashland High School Theater
The family concert and ice cream social have become an annual event. Again this year Cold Stone Creamery will be on hand to serve their ice cream, providing time for everyone to socialize and meet the band members. This event was filled close to capacity last year so be sure to purchase your tickets early. Print out the event flyer to order your tickets.
The Joe Sallins Duo visited all of our K-8 schools in the 2005-2006 school year. They were incredibly well-received by both students and teachers. Every person had a great time and left the performance with a smile, so we decided to find a way to share their music with the entire community.
Joe is an accomplished electric piccolo bass guitarist, keyboard and piano player and percussionist. His assemblies explore a varied and eclectic combination of traditional African call-and-response songs, tribal music, rap, fusion or traditional jazz, and rock and roll. They are fun, high energy, interactive programs incorporating discussion and audience participation. Joe’s objective is to convey an understanding of musical history and its cultural significance, while stressing the value of teamwork.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Ashland Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
